Originally recruited as a quarterback, he ultimately transitioned to wide receiver — a move he resisted at first but embraced when he realized it was the best path forward.

That willingness to adapt proved crucial. In just a year and a half as a wideout at USC, Curtis established himself as one of the top receivers in the country, eventually becoming the first wide receiver selected in the 1993 NFL Draft.

Mentality Over Talent
